Jack Van der Star, BAsc., MASc., P.Eng., CEO is the Founder of Vanderstar Engineering & Associates, and has over 30 years of relevant telecommunications industry experience and is a respected communications industry consultant.
Jack has been instrumental in the development of WAVETEQ’s versatile easy to use wireless multi-frequency, multi-protocol technology platform.
Jack was CTO for a Milpitas, California based mmWave radio manufacturing company where he was directly responsible for the development of a line of foundry-produced millimeter wave chips and radio products based on these. Jack also holds a video-on-demand patent and participated in the development of the 802.16 standard.
Jack is the Secretary of the Okanagan Partnership - Engineering Advisory Committee which succeeded in having the UBCO engineering school implemented, is a founding director of the Okanagan Valley Research and Innovation Centre (ORIC), an award-winning business incubator and is a Director of the Okanagan Science and Technology Council (OSTEC). In 2007, he was recognized by OSTEC as Innovator of the Year. He also holds a video-on-demand patent and participated in the development of the IEEE 802.16 (pre-WiMAX) standard.
Jack earned his BASc and MASc from the University of British Columbia and is a Professional Engineer licensed to practice in Canada.
